Hello Rose

Hope you get a chance to talk to your nurse today.

We have such high hopes when we first start a drug, but they do take time to work. Pleased to see that the itching stopped, that must be a relief. I get itches sometimes in places I just can't get to when my arms and shoulders are bad, not much fun is it? Lets hope that your fingers and hands calm down as well. Perhaps it is just a side effect of the drug and the nurse will be able to put your mind at rest tonight about it.

Take Care

Paula xx

Hello All,

Saw my Rhummy nurse last night at our RA meeting. She took me to one side and was very kind.

She said all the things I have mentioned can be the intolerance of the drug, but it is early days.

Suggested the day before I take my next humira I take max paracetamol(to help eliviate flu symptoms)
Take piriton (to help itching) and give myself rest.

Not sure whether to go to Docs next week and ask for 1 week off work.

Anyway to finish on a better note I am not too bad today , well a better day than the last 6.

Thank you all

hi Rose,

glad you managed to have a chat with Rheumy Nurse.

let's hope the symptoms go soon and the drug starts working for you.

sounds like a good idea to have the week off .. give yourself a better chance in these early days.

Hi Rose,

Glad you managed to speak to your rheumy nurse. I hope the things she suggested work for you and help you tolerate the humira.
Good idea to get some time off work and give yourself the chance for more rest.

Love, Doreen xx

Hello All,

An update. Still been finding it hard this past week and since my last injection. So went to Docs
yesterday and he said good idea to have a week of work to see how things go. Docs orders as
for a week no sick certificate, So been relaxing all morning now ready to take my injection
later today. I do feel a wimp though I am only working 12 hours now after being so ill recently
but I not even coping with that either.

I am off for a breast screening this pm and to watch my 7 yr old in a 20 minute dance display.
Then injection.

Bye will come back later.

Oh and I am also getting 'stuck' fingers. Doctor said they were called trigger finger.

Does anyone else suffer or have this.

Hi Rose
Glad your having a week off and dont feel like a wimp! I cut my hours down to 17 and still couldnt cope with it, so now have been off work for 8 weeks!
Make the most of the rest...
good luck with the breast screening and enjoy the dance display. About the stuck fingers recently mine have been so painful and stiff at night I cant sleep but I dont think their stuck. xx

Hi Rose

Hope the dance display went well and that you managed your injection without incident. Don't feel bad about having more sick time, sadly with this disease we have to listen to our bodies or we end up paying for it big time!
I have a similar problem with one of my fingers and often wake in the morning and am unable to straighten it, it does sort itself out eventually.

Make the most of this week and give your body a rest.

Best Wishes

Sue

hi Rose,

glad you have the week off .. hopefully this will help you,

fingers crossed that the Humira works soon.

yes i have had trigger finger in my little finger a few years back before RA at the same time i had Carpel Tunnel.

i had an injection in it, ( think it was Cortisone ) and it relieved it no end, it used to be bent down in the morning but it became flexible again after the injection.

Suzanne x

P.S. i won't be starting Humira for a while yet.

Thank you everyone.

Well did my injection yesterday and for the first time did it in my thigh.(never again ouch it stung).

Same as before Il have terrible flu like conditions terrible, feel weepy, have bad head, only slightly
itchy though. The pains are very sharp in feet elbows, hands fingers - ugh. I have taken my tramdol
but do not seem to be going away

I HATE THIS BL. . . .Y RA..

Well Rose, I did warn you to steer clear of the thighs! I don't know why it hurts so much there, it wasn't so bad when I had the syringes, just with the pens!

I'm so sorry you are feeling so ill after each injection, all I can think of is perhaps it might stop when you are more used to them.
Hope you feel better by tomorrow.

Love, Doreen xx

Hi Rose

So sorry that you are having such horrible reactions to the Humira. Hope the Tramadol kicks in soon and that you have a good nights sleep and feel better in the morning.

You are right it is such a horrible disease.

Have you had any luck with co codamol 30/500 I find they work as well as anything really, tramadol makes me feel quite odd and nausea.
